The art of Masking is our art.
An art to express, to communicate, to reveal.
We mask the body, the voice, matter, space;
we try to mask what moves to reveal the essential movement.
The ATELIER Mask Movement Theatre is an international theatre center, led by Matteo Destro and Alay Arcelus Macazaga, based in Tuscany, Italy.
The objective of the Atelier is to offer a space of creative inquiry for artists interested in expanding their creative and performative tools as actor, director, playwright and wishing to further their knowledge of Mask and Movement Based Theatre.
The three-month program 2026 will run from January 5th to March 29th. Spots are fully booked a waiting list is open.
The exact dates for the January–March 2027 three-month program will be published in January 2026.
Registration will also open in January 2026
The advanced program: The Art Storytelling
is scheduled for fall 2026 and is open only to those who have already completed the three-month course and have received an invitation from the team.
International 7-Day Intensive Workshop: The Theatre Masks
is scheduled for July 2026.

The Mask is the guiding theme throughout the program.
